Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of well over 100 known cannabinoids of the hemp plant. The current boom in CBD is probably also explained by the fact that the hemp extract is said to have many positive properties. The mechanism of action of cannabidiol has not yet been fully researched. It is known that CBD is not psychoactive and therefore cannot cause intoxication when taken. It is also considered quite certain that cannabidiol has antispasmodic properties. As a result, it is already being used as a drug for spasms in MS patients and in children who suffer from a rare form of epilepsy. However, additional studies and research are necessary to confirm the further pharmacological potential that CBD has so far been said to have. User reports, however, sound promising.
